Reading and the Library
Cleeve Meadow School aims to instil in all our students a love of reading that will stay with them for life.
Our fully stocked library is in the heart of the school and alongside their English lessons every student has a Reading Lesson once a week in the Library with our Reading Specialist and Librarian, Mr Mountain.
Students are all issued with a Library Card and can take home one book at a time, The book can be changed daily during AM and PM Form Time.
The library has a large selection of Fiction and Non-Fiction books that are specially picked to suit the reading levels and ages of our students.
Most books will have an Accelerated Reader label on the outside with the books reading level on it to ensure students know that the books are at the correct level and can challenge themselves by trying a book at the next level. And, for every book students read and quiz on, they get entered into a prizedraw each term.
The library has a good selection of genres including student favorites such as Young Adult fiction, horror and graphic novels. If students have a particular reading passion they can speak to Mr Mountain and he will do his best to have it on the shelves.
